A spring snowstorm, which brought record snow for April 2 in the city, postponed the Yankees' home opener and the Mets' game.

The Yankees' game has been rescheduled for Tuesday at 4 p.m. after heavy snow fell in the Bronx this morning, although heavy rain is forecast for the city at that time.

More wet weather is expected Wednesday, and then again later this week. But a high temperature of 60 degrees is projected for Wednesday.

Snowfall in the five boroughs ranged from as little as 2 inches on Staten Island to as many as 6.5 inches in the Fordham section of the Bronx. Parts of Westchester saw more than seven inches of snow.

Two inches of snow fell per hour at LaGuardia Airport briefly this morning. The record for snow at the airport was shattered, along with the April 2 record for Central Park.

The snow was melting rapidly this afternoon, however, with temperatures above 40 degrees.

But Yankees fans said they were ready to brave the storm, even if the game was delayed.

"This is ridiculous, I did not even know it was supposed to be snowing, I'm wearing the wrong clothes," said one." Hopefully it warms up and maybe can have a late start."

"That's New York for ya," said another. "April 2, spring, baseball starts, and it's snowing. I hope they do play today. I hope so, great weather for it. We play football in this weather, why not play baseball?"

The Mets game against the Philadelphia Phillies has been postponed and rescheduled as part of a doubleheader in July.
