It's a home run for little league teams across the city ahead of the upcoming season.

The Mets Foundation teamed up with nonprofit organization, Pitch In For Baseball, for the first Sandlot Stars Equipment Giveaway at Citi Field.

Fifty baseball and softball teams from underserved communities received equipment kits which included everything needed to play the game.

"There are a lot of kids that come down there that don't have the money, don't have, like said before, don't have the ability to get this stuff. So now we can supply them with gloves, and bats, and balls and what have you, and they come down there and feel a part of the team and it gives them the ability to play the game, love the game and progress," said George Anderson, Coach, Snug Harbor Little League.

Coaches NY1 spoke with say their teams had to share equipment and use old, rusted and broken gear, until now.
