ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Five months ago, John MacKenzie of West Bloomfield suffered a heart attack while driving on Ridge Road.

American Red Cross volunteer Jerry Miller witnessed the incident and quickly jumped into action.

Miller immediately removed MacKenzie from his truck and performed CPR. Emergency room doctors later told MacKenzie that he would not have survived otherwise.

"I cannot thank my guardian angel enough," Mackenzie said Tuesday during an emotional reunion between the two men.

"The excellent CPR and the proper CPR that Jerry performed, that's what kept the blood flowing and the oxygen going to my brain that allowed me to be here today," Mackenzie said while surrounded by friends and family.
