Among those against President Trump's proposed cuts to Community Service Block Grants is Congresswoman Claudia Tenney.

Tenney joined the Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency in opposition on Friday.

She also didn't want to see funding eliminated for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

The Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency provides direct services for people living in poverty in Oneida and Herkimer Counties.

Tenney said she'll continue to fight against the proposed cuts.

"It's important to know that the President's plan is just a blueprint," said Tenney. "We're going to continue to advocate and fight for these community service organizations. We know how important they are."

"There's a couple of grants that will probably stand on their own without the Community Services Block Grant," said Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency Executive Director Amy Turner. "But the majority of it would be affected and greatly reduce our ability to respond to numerous obstacles and challenges families face."

The Executive Director said without the grants, they would lose at least 1/3 of their work force.
