Members of the Communtiy in Queens took to the streets of Flushing ahead of the Chinese New Year.

Flushing Town Hall representatives and other local groups marched in the streets Saturday to celebrate the Chinese New Year which is on Friday.

They started off at the library and walked up Main Street to the Town Hall on Northern Boulevard.

There, people were able to see different performances and try traditional snacks at a "temple bazaar."

"Hundreds of millions of people all around the world who celebrate the New Year at this time," said Ellen Kodadek, Executive and Artistic Director, Flushing Town Hall. "So this is a very, very important festival and traditional New Year's celebration for the entire community," she continued.

There will be a larger parade held on February 17th. It will include floats, dragons, and dancers.
