Officers Tiffany Phillips and Carlos Guadalupe had just started their shift Tuesday morning in Hell's Kitchen, when they were approached by a man who said his wife was in labor.

Officer Phillips called for an ambulance, but when the woman said her baby was coming, she told her partner to go grab some towels.

By the time he came back, the baby boy had already arrived, but the officers' work was not done.

"He was not breathing, and he was not responsive. Then I took the blankets, wrapped it around the child, and I began to pat his back and to massage him. Once I did that I heard him begin to cry, his eyes was blinking and he was breathing. Whew."

The officers then escorted the family to Bellevue Hosptial, where they say the family is doing well.
