AUSTIN – Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has ordered the State Operations Center to elevate its readiness level from Level 4, which describes normal conditions, to Level 3, which is that of increased readiness, at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.

The order is in response to winter weather and cold temperatures which are expected to impact much of the state during the next few days.

Additionally, Abbott has made available any state resources needed to assist in dealing with the potential impacts of this winter weather system. Some of the agencies reporting to the SOC include the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Texas Department of Transportation, and the Texas A&M Forest Service.
