A litter of puppies has found an unlikely foster home on Staten Island.

Students and teachers at P.S. 69 have been fostering dogs at the New Springville school.  The elementary school started it's foster program called "Paws Club" as a way to encourage students to be more responsible and empathetic - and maybe provide a home for animals in need.  More than 40 students help take care of the animals during the school day and a group of volunteer teachers take the dogs home at night.

Eli Karov, a student at the school says "I've become really close to the dogs, because they're fun to play with and they're very active. And they're very fluffly and soft to hold."

The school will be hosting an adoption event for the dogs Saturday January 6th between 1-4 pm.
