LOS ANGELES — Posters have popped up across Los Angeles depicting Meryl Streep as a Harvey Weinstein enabler.

They feature an image of Streep next to Weinstein with a red stripe across her face with the text “She knew,” referencing Weinstein’s alleged sexual abuse of dozens of women over the past decade.

The posters are a play on artist Barbara Kruger, whose art featured text in red banners which has been copied/adapted by many.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the posters went up near Streep’s house in Pasadena, near the SAG-AFTRA building in Mid-Wilshire and across from the 20th Century Fox studio lot in Century City.

Streep has denied that she had knowledge of Weinstein's alleged predatory behavior — a claim initially made by actress Rose McGowan, who alleges she was raped by Weinstein.

McGowan on Saturday tweeted criticism of Streep, alleging the actress had been willing to work with Weinstein despite his reputation and saying that a plan to protest sexual misconduct in Hollywood by wearing black to the Golden Globes were not received.

In the tweet, which has since been deleted, McGowan said, “Actresses, like Meryl Streep, who happily worked for The Pig Monster, are wearing black @goldenglobes in a silent protest. YOUR SILENCE is THE problem. You’ll accept a fake award breathlessly & affect no real chance. I despise your hypocrisy. Maybe you should all wear Marchesa.”

On Tuesday, Streep issued a response to McGowan. "I want to let her know I did not know about Weinstein’s crimes, not in the 90s when he attacked her, or through subsequent decades when he proceeded to attack others," Streep stated.

"I wasn’t deliberately silent. I didn’t know. I don’t tacitly approve of rape. I didn’t know."
