Four people are hurt, including two firefighters and a pregnant woman, after a four-alarm fire ripped through the top floor of a Bronx apartment early Sunday morning, officials say.

"Nobody has time to start over, nobody has that money saved up," said one resident affected by the fire.  "It's a very scary experience."

The fire started at the five-story apartment building in Claremont around 5 a.m. on Clay Ave. near East 173 St.

More than 400 firefighters were needed to fight the blaze, getting it under control in about two hours. But officials said firefighters had to leave the inside of the building to fight the fire from the outside because it was so strong.

Officials said the flames and smoke damage impacted dozens of units in the building, displacing at least 27 families.

The four people hurt suffered minor injuries. The pregnant woman suffered from smoke inhalation.

According to officials, the building's top floor is now uninhabitable.

"We got to start from the bottom now," one resident said, wrapped in a blanket outside her home.

The Red Cross transported many of the displaced residents to P.S. 70.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
