SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Kids in Schenectady's Mont Pleasant and Hamilton Hill Neighborhoods may soon have a new place to go.

A $10.9 million capital campaign is underway in hopes of making it a reality.

The new, two-story facility would be built in Quackenbush Park, replacing the old one on Craig Street, which closed in 2016.

The new building would include a game room, a gym, a teen center and a new technology center, all for kids from the Mont Pleasant and Hamilton Hill neighborhoods to take advantage of when they're not in school.

"What the Boys and Girls Club did for me, so many kids at this new facility will not only find their voice but they will love their voice and use it as well," said Trevor Luciani, BGCS Youth of the Year.

The Boys and Girls Club of Schenectady currently serves nearly 13,000 youth in the county annually.
