FLORIDA -- Police say a Florida man who left his kids in the car, while he went inside a strip club, is now in jail.

Police say the man claimed to only be inside the strip club for a minute or two, but the club's manager says he was in there for much longer.

Christopher Mays, general manager of Scarlett's says he was in the club for about 30 to 40 minutes.

Mays says a three-year-old and an infant were left inside the vehicle and were not strapped in car seats. Witnesses say the baby was upside down.

“Head is where it's butt should be. Feet up in the air," Mays says.

The children were crying, getting the attention of a customer who called for help.

"God only knows how much longer an upside down infant has in a car seat," Mays says.

He says his staff and the customer helped the three-year-old unlock the car from the inside, getting both kids out safely.

"I can't even believe he did that. I'm shocked," Brooke Twyman says. Twyman is a mother of two kids about the same age.

"Kids should be taken away from him, because he can do it once; he can do it twice. How many times has he done it?" Twyman says.

Jordan Jr. now faces child neglect charges.

Theresa Short, a Fort Myers resident says "I can't believe he's going to go to an establishment like that and leave him. He couldn't find a baby-sitter or something? I mean it's... That's just horrible."

Mays, who's also a father, say this is a first at Scarlett's.

"Is it a first for that parent? Probably not. I mean if a three-year-old is calm, cool, and relaxed... Why? Why is he so fine being alone in the car like that?" Mays says.

In addition to the child neglect charges, police say the department of children and families is conducting a follow-up investigation.
