Queens City Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley on Thursday conceded defeat in her re-election to a third term.

In a statement, Crowley said she is proud of the work she accomplished and the results of this election will not change her commitment to public service.

She plans to spend the remaining weeks of her term in office working tirelessly on behalf of her constituents.

Crowley waited until the Board of Elections counted 700 paper ballots Wednesday, with lawyers for both candidates watching.

Her challenger Robert Holden led by just 133 votes on election night.

After the tally on Wednesday he picked up four more votes.

Crowley initially beat Holden in the Democratic primary.

He then ran against her in the general election on the Republican party line.
