AUSTIN, Texas — Vice President Mike Pence spoke Wednesday afternoon in Austin at the Republican Governor's Association. He delivered a speech that mainly focused on tax reform.

The vice president reiterated he expects a tax reform bill to land on the president's desk before the end of the year, and said the momentum is on their side.

The Republican-controlled Congress has struggled to pass any signature legislation since President Trump took office.

The vice president touted the work of the commander-in-chief and said Trump is rolling back red tape and regulations.

He also noted that the 34 Republican governors seated across the U.S. is the highest in American history, and said it's a continued indication of America's support for the GOP.

"These Republican governors are proving every day that Republican policies work in our states, they work for free enterprise, they work for families, and Republican policies can work to make the entire American economy great again,” Pence said.

Pence's visit comes after hosting a fundraiser two days ago for Gov. Greg Abbott's campaign.

The governors' conference wraps up Thursday.
