Brookdale Vestal West, dedicated to caring for residents with Alzheimer's and dementia, held a flag folding ceremony Friday.

They wanted to thank the eight residents and two staff members for their service in the Army, Navy and Air Force. The veterans sat and watched with excitement as they received their awards.

"We want to make sure the residents know that we still think about them, and that they contributed so much to our country that we want to make sure they are acknowledged," said Brookdale Vestal West Sales Manager Amira Davis.

According to the Alzheimer's Association, soldiers and veterans are at a high risk of developing dementia if they have head injuries or post-traumatic stress disorder.
