ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- That first time you hit the brakes, and feel your tires start to slide, is nearly here, if you didn't already experience it Friday.

"Let’s not slam on the brake, let’s try and pump the brake a little bit. Slow yourself down according to conditions, versus coming to a complete stop," said Christine Randise, AAA travel manager.

You probably already have a blanket, flashlight (check the batteries), tools, or a road kit in your ride, and you don't have to have a cat to want bags of litter piled in the back.

"But also," Randise said, "if there’s no reason for you to be on the road in bad conditions, we also recommend that you just stay home.”
