Hundreds of runners took off for the fourth annual Purple 5K Dash to End Domestic Violence on Saturday.

The run brings awareness to domestic violence and raises money for the Korean American Family Service Center in Flushing.

The Center helps victims of domestic violence find jobs and get back on their own two feet.

“Domestic Violence is such a taboo subject in the Korean-American and Asian community,” said Bomsinae Kim, Executive Director for KAFSC. "So we need to organize events like this to raise awareness."

“We have to work from person to person to person. If we work hard at it for years and years I feel like we can make a difference,” said Elijah Kang / Associate Board Chair, KAFSC.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
