A non-profit in Queens gets a financial boost from the state to help its members.

Senator Jose Peralta announced on Wednesday that the Corona Self-Help Center will receive $10k dollars for English classes.

The money will be used to hire a teacher and purchase class-related supplies.

Organizers say that the classes will help their members with their recovery.

"To do this not only for certain people but for everyone it means the world to me because this is what we're here to do," said Johan Van den Berghe, Corona Self-Help Center.

"If your going to help an organization like this that are going to help individuals that are falling through the cracks then its a win for not only their organizations, the members that participate, and society as a whole," said State Senator Jose Peralta.

The Corona Self-Help Center works to rehabilitate people suffering from addiction and helps them reintegrate into social and family life.
