Another update to a story we have been covering since last year.

Tenants facing eviction in Astoria say their landlord continues to harass them.

Residents at the New York School of Urban Ministry - a low income dormitory run by a Christian not-for-profit say harassment with the intent to force them out is increasing.

They say the landlord continues to ask when they are leaving and has removed furniture and computers from the common space, in addition to discontinuing services in an effort to push them out.

One tenant claims the founder of the organization physically assaulted her during a recent discussion.

"He asked one of the residents, "Do you have a question?" And she said "no", and asked another one, "Do you have a question?"  And then he said, "no." And then he looked at...turned to me and he said, "and you..." and he slapped me with the back of his hand right on my shoulder. I was...I didn't even know this guy. I'd never seen him and to hit me like that I was surprised," said tenant Linda Smith.

The Legal Aid Society has been helping the tenants and is planning to file documents with the New York supreme court to stop the harassment.

We were unable to reach the attorney representing New York School of Urban Ministry by phone.
