Flushing is going digital. A new website connecting both visitors and residents with all the neighborhood has to offer is now live.

Flushing Fantastic was launched Monday by the Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce and Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE). The new web portal will help visitors navigate and plan trips to the area while also connecting them to small business and cultural venues.

It even features maps, an event calendar, and profiles of some local business owners.

Those involved with the project say the new website will change people's view of Flushing.

“People see Flushing in a very generic, stereotypical way and we want to cut through that and create a deeper understanding by showing peoples personal struggles and how they have overcome things and really made this community prosperous,” said John Choe, Executive Director of the Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce.

“It is like a bustling community,” added Isabelle Leighton, Director of Equality Fund for AAFE. “It is a village in itself. We're thinking that it is to make it easier but to also to encourage people to explore ad fall in love with Flushing.”

Those who helped develop the site said their goal is to eventually make it available in multiple languages.
