Queens College remembered the victims of 9/11 on Monday, the 16th anniversary of the attacks.

The school hosted its annual 9/11 commemorative ceremony on the quad. Students gathered to listen to speakers and reflect on the attacks. American flags lined the walkways in honor of the victims.

Students said that, despite being just toddlers when the attacks took place, it is important to pay their respects to those who lost their lives.

“Today is a significant day in history and just although I was young it brings back a lot of feelings and memories,” said student Nicole Weinsheimer.

“Even though I was only three it is still heartbreaking all these people lost their family members and people that they loved,” added Taylor Persaud. “I mean, it is good that people come together.”

The school's swimming and diving team attended the ceremony to support one of their teammates whose father is an FDNY firefighter.
