Members of the armed forces took to the field before the Mets first pitch Monday night.

The team hosted their third annual Military Softball Classic.

A round-robin style softball tournament pitted the Navy, Army, Marines and Air Force against one another.

The Navy and Coast Guard tied for first place each getting two wins and a draw.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson and some of the Mets players came out to meet the winners.

"To be with the guys and be out on the field, you know alot of us grew up dreaming to be baseball players and now we got a change to do it like the big leaguers, so it was a lot of fun," said US Navy Commander Christian Gaskill.

"We are so gracious for this opportunity, we have such a good time, everyboyd gets together, some people we know, old friends some strangers, we all get together and have a good time playing," said US Marines Gunnery Sergeant Henry Kelcinski.

Following the games, military members and their families stuck around to watch Monday's solar eclipse on the field.
