New York's Finest is joining forces with city agencies to help better serve their communities

The NYPD held a resource fair at the Police Academy for neighborhood coordination officers Thursday. Representatives from different city agencies like the Department of Buildings and the MTA were on hand to give an overview of how they could help.

Officers were also able to exchange information with those representatives so they can provide better resources to people they meet on the streets.

"Back in the day, it was a lot of trying to figure out on your own or handle things on your own and getting the job done was a lot more difficult," said Officer Mark Wilson.

"They need to know if we are not responsible for the issue or situation at hand, who do we refer it to," said Assistant Chief Juanita Holmes.

The NYPD held a similar fair in Brooklyn earlier this month.
