A Corona teen has received some major kudos for developing an app to help people drink safe water.
Tech conference CE Week named Sharon Lin, 18, one of 2017's Young Innovators to Watch.
The Stuyvesant High School grad received the same honor once before. This year she's being recognized for developing an app called White Water. The app uses a smartphone camera to scan for microbes and tell people if their water is clean.
“A lot of communities, especially those that come from poverty stricken areas, don't really have access to the laboratory equipment, the chemicals or even the lab personnel necessary to conduct very rigorous tests for water quality analysis,” said Lin.
Lin will head to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the fall. She plans on studying physics and computer science.
