The city's plan to revitalize downtown Far Rockaway has cleared another hurdle.

The City Planning Commission unanimously approved the proposed rezoning of the neighborhood. It now goes to the Ciity Council. This is a $91 million plan to revitalize a 22-block area in downtown Far Rockaway, an area that has been neglected for years. The plan includes both commercial and residential development including mixed- income housing , improving transportation and connecting residents to jobs. The goal is to once again make this area the commercial hub of the Rockaways. Queens City Councilman Donovan Richards has helped spearhead this plan.
