A home in Hollis will soon be ready for some low-income New Yorkers thanks to a group of volunteers.

On Saturday, members of the Queens Coalition hammered, shoveled and sawed alongside Habitat for Humanity NYC workers.

Members of the coalition were helping to put the finishing touches on a home along 111th Avenue.

"There are about 28 volunteers here rehabbing this house for a family that will be moving in at some point in the next year and it's for a great cause," said Ryan Bacci, a volunteer with the Queens Coalition.

The coalition is made up of different faith and community organizations.

The home will eventually be for sale as an affordable housing unit.

"When groups come together we see a huge impact and we see families' lives transformed," said Francis Hardy, the faith and community relations manager for Habitat for Humanity NYC.

The Coalition is also raising money to help rehab 20 homes across the borough.
