A new exhibition at Flushing Town Hall promises to take visitors back in time.

Sunday marked the opening reception for a new photo gallery titled "Taking It To The Streets".

The exhibit includes nearly 30 photographs which capture the daily life in New York City in the 1950's.

A former Queens resident and amateur photographer, Frank Larson, took the photos before he passed away in 1964.

Larson’s grandson, Soren Larson, told NY1 that he discovered the collection of photos by accident.

"I started looking through the negatives hoping to find pictures of my father who had just passed away, and sort of learn a little more about my family’s history and images. Then I started finding his street photos, and they just kept coming, I kept finding more and more of them and pretty soon it dawned on me, I have to share these," said Soren Larson.

The photo gallery will be on display at Flushing Town Hall through August 2nd.
