A financial boost will help schools in Southeast Queens provide more technology to students.

Council Member Donovan Richards presented five schools in his district with the Nelson Mandela Technology Grant.

It all totaled $650 thousand dollars.

Each school received at least one hundred grand to use for any kind of technology upgrade within their building.

"At least 75, 80 percent of our families are low income families and these funding sources just stimulate our community and serve us in so many important ways," said Alicia Davis, the principal of P.S 132.

"Your budget shows your values and our value is ensuring our children are prepared for the future," said Richards.

Richards says his office dedicated $3.4 million dollars to schools in his district last year.
