Some kids in Kew Gardens have joined the fight to save a bridge in their neighborhood from demolition.

NY1 reported recently how businesses that sit atop a bridge on Lefferts Boulevard started a petition to save the bridge from being torn down. The MTA recently indicated the bridge will be torn down because it is starting to fall apart. Business owners say the demolition would also destroy their livelihood. Now the children in that community are working to have their voices heard. More then a dozen parents brought their kids to the Potters Wheel Wednesday. The kids painted signs to show their support for the bridge.

"We feel like it's important to preserve it. And not only the shops even the historical value of the bridge. It's really beautiful, even architecturally," said parent Alessia Nencioni.

Queens Councilwoman Karen Koslowitz recently told NY1 she is working to get her own engineer to examine the bridge to see if demolition can be avoided.
