A group of kids got the chance to cook alongside former New York Yankee pitcher Ramiro Mendoza on Sunday while also raising money to support an after-school and in-school culinary program.

Kids ages 4 to 14 took part in the one-hour fund-raising cooking class held at the Bareburger 31st Avenue in Astoria.

Money raised at the event will go towards supporting "Allergic to Salad", a program that teaches Pre-K through Middle School students about cooking and life skills.

Participants joined Mendoza and Bareburger Culinary Director John Lemon in preparing Bareburger’s Falafel Cups.

For one week following the class, 100% of the sales of every Falafel dish sold will be donated to "Allergic to Salad" to support the program.

Allergic to Salad provides culinary classes that are designed to teach kids how to cook while developing an appreciation for healthy foods and healthy eating habits.

The founders said that they believe healthy, wholesome food is for everyone and they make sure their classes are affordable to everyone.

Allergic to Salad classes are currently funded by generous tax-deductible donations.
