Hundreds of elementary and middle school kids go head-to-head to answer the age-old question — what is the best borough?

The city's Youth and Community Development Department hosted the annual "Battle of the Boroughs" Olympics in Harlem.

Kids squared off in a number of different events, including relay races, basketball and dance contests.

Organizers say it is a great way to build team working skills and make new friends.

"It's friendly competition," said Daron Burrows, with the Department of Youth and Community Development. "The kids came in, they created their own chants, they have their own team colors, they're representing their boroughs, their neighborhoods. This is their pride. They love where they're from, they want to come represent where they're from."

"The competition is kind of really tough, but everybody plays equally and it's really kind of fun," said one athlete.

"It was very active, you know, learning experience," said another. "It was a lot of teamwork, and overall a really good time."

This year's bragging rights went to Queens.
