The base of the Hell Gate Bridge is getting a new look as it celebrates its 100th birthday.

The New York Anti-Crime Agency teamed up with artists from all over the world to beautify the base of the bridge in Astoria Park. The Agency holds safety seminars and graffiti cleanup project in the neighborhood and across the city.

The new mural celebrates the bridge's 100th anniversary and pays homage to the bald eagle and the Statue of Liberty.

Organizers say the murals have been getting great reviews.

“People come down here and, I can tell you, everybody that drives by stops and takes pictures,” said Antonio Meloni, Director of the New York Anti-Crime Agency. “I've even had wedding parties actually stop and take pictures.”

The centennial celebration will also include a Day of Service in September. That event will start with a 5 K run and a clean-up of Astoria Park.
