An exhibit at Queensborough Community College uses some unconventional materials to teach people about fiber art.

Bamboo, fruit wrappers and ballet shoes are just some of the objects used in The Taiwanese American Art Council's 'Rewoven: Innovative Fiber Arts exhibit.'

It features about 30 pieces created by artists from New York and Taiwan.  Artists said they re-purposed different kinds of materials like cloth and paper.

Organizers hope the exhibit inspires visitors.

"I hope they have some kind of thoughts about nature and we can still preserve it and create it and re-invent it," said QCC Art Gallery Executive Director Faustino Quintanilla.

The exhibit is also on display at Queens College and another location in Brooklyn.
