Two men are facing charges accused of using a dog and it's shipping crate in an attempt to smuggle drugs into the city

Officials say they found 10 kilos of heroine stashed in a false bottom of this dog crate containing an Avi Labrador. The discovery was made at JFK airport on March 25th. The crate had been shipped from Puerto Rico to New York.

The suspects, Samuel Seabrooks of the Bronx and Carlos Betancourt-Morales of Carmel, both face charges of first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree conspiracy.

The defendants are due back in court April 10th.

The drugs had an estimated street value of more than 1 million dollars.
