Runners laced up their sneakers to take part in the second annual Queens Marathon on Sunday.

Queens Distance Runners and NYC Runs hosted the event which included 4 loops around Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

The course allowed participants to take in the sights of the World’s Fair Grounds, wave hello to the Queens Museum, and circle the iconic Unisphere.

Those taking part each received a t-shirt and medal after finishing the race.

Organizers said that these races are important for the growing running community in Queens.

"We're here to try to give them events for them all to come together and compete against each other and really foster that community they are building together," said / NYCRuns Race Director Micheal Fiorelli

Sunday's event also featured a "Spring Marathon Tune Up," a slightly shorter course taking runners around the park in 3 loops.
