The Flushing Business Improvement District (BID) gets an extra push to help local businesses.

The city Department of Small Business Services is giving the Flushing BID $900,000.

The grant is part of the department's Neighborhood 360 program. The goal is to help revitalize commercial corridors.

BID officials said they plan to use the money to create parking discounts and consumer loyalty programs.

"We truly believe that the downtown Flushing community is underserved," said Dian Song Yu, the executive director of the Flushing BID. "And we truly believe that the grant over the next three years will make a huge impact in our community."

BID officials said they also want to bring improved sanitation access to the community. They are also looking into a possible expansion.
