A new art exhibit opens in Long Island City, celebrating Women's History Month.

"The Divine Female," an exhibit featuring the work of two local artists is on display in the gallery at The Local.

Organizers say the show is dedicated to showing an appreciation for women across the world, as well as the work of Queens residents.

"Traditionally women are painted as a Madonna or a householder, but I want to touch every aspect of women in the world. That's it. I'm probably depicting myself," said artist Yelena Tylkina.

"It displays the empowerment of women and it just fits really well with our sort of industrial feel and what our mission is which is to be part of the community," said

Matt Roth, general manager of The Local.

The exhibit ends March 19th. For more information, visit thelocalny.com
