Classroom trailers at one Corona school will finally be removed.

State Senator Jose Peralta and the School Construction Authority announced Thursday the "temporary" trailers at P.S. 143 will be replaced by a 5-story annex.

Six trailers accomodated 180 students and have been there for nearly 10 years.

The new addition will have space for 980 seats, a brand new cafeteria and gymnasium.

"Every child deserves to be in a warm environment, in a spacious environment, and a state of the art environment! This is going to be all brand new so this is going to be great," Peralta said.

"This is very important to the community because this part of the district has been abandoned for many years. We haven't had any construction for a while so this is just the beginning," Angelica Salgado PTA President P.S. 143 said.

During construction, students will be placed in nearby schools.

The project is expected to be completed by Fall 2020.
