Some Woodside students will soon have a school building to call their own.

Students from PS 255 have been using classroom trailers in the school yard of PS 151 for years. Councilman Costa Constantinides and Borough President Melinda Katz announced Monday the 11 trailers will be removed after this school year.

Officials say the move is long overdue and students from both schools will finally have the space they deserve.

“Whether it's physical education, whether it's their reading and writing and having a school building with the right spaces for them, it accomplishes it all,” Constantinides said. “It's a win-win-win for everyone.”

“I think it's a huge self-esteem boost for the kids as well,” added parent Lenore Koppelman. “I think it will help them feel like they matter more than they did before.”

PS 255 students will be moved to the PS 397 building in Astoria.
