Some health care providers in Queens are reminding women about the importance of early detection to fight cancer.

Elmhurst Hospital will host an information session Tuesday on breast cancer and cancers of the reproductive system. Physicians from the hospital will discuss how screening and early detection improve health outcomes for women. Attendees will be able to ask questions about their health concerns.

"I think understanding something about how things develop and what causes them may give better understanding of how patients should deal with it and prevent it," said Dr. Barry Brown at Elmhurst Hospital.

The event is free.  It takes place from 6:00pm to 7:30pm in Rm. D4-17 on the 4th Floor of Elmhurst Hospital, 79-01 Broadway.
