Love was in the air Tuesday for some Long Island City seniors.

Residents at Selfhelp's Queensview retirement community celebrated Valentine's Day with a special lunch.

The nonprofit provides resources to seniors to help them live as independently as possible.

Seniors at Tuesday's lunch were able to listen to live performances of love songs  and munch on some heart shaped cookies.

NY1 spoke with one couple about spending their Valentine's Day with their friends and neighbors.

"It's great. We're having a very good time especially because Murray said he would come." said Eleanor Hunter.

"It means that I'm doing something that my girlfriend wants me to do that I ordinarily would not do," added Maurice Rosenblum.

Organizers say their next celebration will be for St. Patrick's Day.
