After years of trying, Glendale is one step closer to getting its own Zip Code.

The House passed a bill Wednesday introduced by Queens Congresswoman Grace Meng that would give the neighborhood its own, unique Zip Code. Glendale currently shares its 11385 zip code with nearby Ridgewood.

Meng says the designation will give Glendale its own identity - and help alleviate mail delays and other issues.

“Not having their own Zip Code has affected people who are trying to get their own medications, people who are first responders, and GPS devices don't even allow you to input the city of Glendale,” Meng said.

The bill must now pass the Senate before heading to President Obama's desk for his signature.

There's no word on a timeline for the Zip Code to be implemented.
