Local workers paused to honor two of their colleagues who lost their lives at a Queens construction site Tuesday.

With candles in hand, dozens of workers paid their respects at a vigil Wednesday to honor flag man Alessandro Ramos and crane 0perator George Smith.

Ramos was guiding Smith on Tuesday when a 6,500-pound beam fell, killing them both.

Many of the workers Wednesday say although they never met Ramos or Smith, the loss is a personal one.

"We're all workers waking up in the morning, trying to feed our families. That's exactly why we're here. We trying to pay the respects to these men, and this is how we show it," said Marvin Tavarez of Local 28 Sheet Metal Workers of New York City and Long Island.

"It's a tragic thing that two men won't be home tomorrow for Thanksgiving, and their families will be siting around without their fathers and their brothers and their sons at the table," said Fred McCourt of Local 1 Elevator Constructors.

The workers are looking to set up a GoFundMe page to support the victims' families.
