The World Maker Faire is known to many as the greatest show-and-tell on earth. NY1's Shannan Ferry filed this report on what the World Maker Faire is all about.

It was gizmos and gadgets galore at the World Maker Faire on Saturday.

The annual event brings together inventors and tech-lovers of all ages.

It's being being hosted at the New York Hall of Science this weekend.

"A lot of cool ideas and a lot of things that you can try out!  And that's the great part about it," said one attendee.

More than 900 makers are at the event showing off their tech products to thousands of people.

Under one tent, guests are able to learn how to build their own drone.

Just a few steps away, visitors can sketch in 3D using a virtual reality headset.

"It's just like being with my own people you know, I don't get to talk about tech a lot, when I'm here I feel the energy everybody is interested in the same thing," said another visitor.

Organizers said one of the best parts about the Maker Faire is that many of the technologies on display are changing peoples lives, including prosthetic hands built using a 3D printer.

"You can see there's a need for people to be making and gathering and sharing different projects," said organizer Bridgette Vanderlaan.

Vanderlaan said the Maker Faire also gives kids a chance to find their passion.  She hopes it inspires the next generation of innovators.

"They can learn to solder, they can fly drones, they can really learn about electronics and they can do everything here," she said.

There are two other major Maker Faire's every year, they are held in California and Washington D.C.
