St. John's University in Queens was ranked 139th of 140 college campuses based on an analysis of sexual health services provided on campus.

This week Trojan Condoms, released its annual “Sexual Health Report Card” and of the 140 campuses ranked, St. John's University in Queens came in at 139th.

Independent research firm, Sperling's BestPlaces, compiled the list using data it collected from student health center representatives.

It also analyzed information provided by each student health center,  including the availability of sexual health and sexual assault programs.

"I know for a fact they have them available, but they don't push them as much as they should," said St. John's freshman Yogesh Gowthamam.

Some St. John's students NY1 spoke with said that more needs to be done to change that.

"With all of the parties going on, you definitely want to be careful and be safe," said St. John's sophomore Rachel Das.

As part of the analysis, student health centers were graded across 11 categories including the availability of on-site HIV and STI testing, students' access to contraceptives and condoms and the effectiveness of health center’s website.

As a Catholic university, some students said they weren't surprised by the low ranking.

"We are a Catholic Vincentian community and I just feel like sometimes we push that under the rug ," Das added.

"There's plenty of people that arean't sex educated and if they're in a Catholic school, there's a chance they came from a Catholic background, middle, high school, whatever.  They could really use the resources, they may not feel comfortable going to their parents or peers asking for birth control options," said St. John's Pharmacy student Angelica Scheck.

"Providing them with information would make it a safer environment for them and allow students to maximize their health,"  Gowthamam added.

Students who spoke with NY1 said they hope the low ranking will ultimately encourage the university to establish and implement more sexual health initiatives.

The university did not offer a comment in response to the report.
