After years of cars speeding by a Queens park, local officials are hoping new repairs will make it safer.

City Department of Transportation officials unveiled new improvements around Francis Lewis Park in Whitestone Friday afternoon aimed at slowing down traffic.

Workers made Third Avenue narrower by installing new 13-foot-wide parking spots and a concrete curb extension at 147th Street.

There's also a new crosswalk and more signs to protect those going in and out of the park.

“You've got your children here. You've got your seniors here. You've got your families here,” said City Council Member Paul Vallone.

“Those are some of the populations that it's really important to provide safe places for them to cross,” added Queens Deputy DOT Commissioner Albert Silvestri.

There's also a new disability-friendly ramp at the main entrance on Third Avenue and the Whitestone Expressway Service Road.
