A Ridgewood man faces murder charges in the stabbing death of his roommate.
Prosecutors say Render Stetson-Shanahan, 26, faces charges of second-degree murder, second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Police responded to a 911 call around 11:30pm Wednesday at a home on Stanhope Street. When they arrived, they found Stetson-Shanahan with a self-inflicted knife wound.
His roommate, Carolyn Bush, also 26, was in the next room with several stab wounds. Emergency crews took Bush to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Stetson-Shanahan was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injury, which officials say is not life-threatening.
It's unclear what led to the stabbing.
If convicted, Stetson-Shanahan faces 25 years to life in prison.
