Some dentists are giving an underserved community in Queens a reason to smile.

The Queens County Dental Society and the Tzu Chi Foundation held a community oral health screening, Sunday.

The event was held to benefit those living without health insurance or those who can not afford dental treatment.

It drew hundreds of people. The dentists did some cleanings, extractions and took care of fillings.

"Millions of Americans wear fixed dentures or move over dentures , so oral health is very important. Especially when you're getting old," said Vice President of Queens County Dental Society, Richard Yang.

"Some of them have not had dentistry for many years and they're very grateful to have cleanings done, " said dentist Robert Olan.

The event also focused on educating the public about oral health.
