Hundreds of kids in Corona are starting the school year off right.
Local elected leaders, the Department of Transportation, and Charter Communications, NY1's parent company, sponsored a "Get Back to School Safely" giveaway Thursday.
Hundreds of local children received properly fitted helmets, school bags, and calculators -- all for free.
"Every time we can do this and insure that our young people are wearing their helmets responsibly is always a great opportunity," said Queens Councilwoman Julissa Ferreras-Copeland.
