After nearly three decades in limbo, the Pepsi-Cola sign in Queens finally received landmark status.

The designation is official after a unanimous vote by the City Council.

The 90-year-old neon sign is located south of the Queensboro Bridge overlooking the East River from the Long Island City waterfront.

It spent 28 years on the Landmarks Preservation Commission’s backlog.

Officials call it "a staggering piece of pop art."
